Archery season begins on Saturday, and the Pennsylvania Game Commission is reminding hunters that the season will run through November 19, including Sunday, November 14. According to a Pennsylvania Game Commission press release, Pennsylvania held its first statewide archery season in 1951, the 71st hunt since then.

Hunting Commission spokesman Travis Lau acknowledged that not all hunters liked the changes: some want the deer season to start on Monday, and some do not want to open Sundays for hunting. Commissioners tentatively approved a simultaneous gunshot deer season in the state in January, but said most of the comments received came from people who opposed the change, fearing it would reduce the deer population.
The return to a fully simultaneous season for horned and horned deer was also important to create additional opportunities for hunters to find time to hunt deer, according to hunting commission spokesman Travis Lau.

This fall, three Sundays are open for hunting and more game species are available than last year. Archers hunting whitetails in Wildlife Management Units 2B, 5C and 5D around Pittsburgh and Philadelphia respectively can start hunting two weeks early, get another Sunday and continue hunting in 2022.
